BLUE COPPER…there’s nothing like a pair of shorts ($16) and a comfy v-neck t-shirt ($20). it’s casual and still feminine without looking dumpy. statement making accessories  like elva fields colorful necklace ($278) and lanvin’s baby blue patent ballet flats ($495) add interest and make this outfit more polished. top this look off with a gorgeous mini shoulder bag by reed krakoff ($690) and benedict 57 copper shades by oliver peoples ($350). 

BIRDS OF A FEATHER…on the super hot days, i hate putting a lot of effort into an outfit. i just want to throw something on, and of course still look good, and be on my way. besides day dress, wearing a romper is great way to do that. 

i still like wearing darker colors in the summer so greylin’s ruffled skirt romper ($102) instantly caught my eye. and with a charming bird pattern, the romper still feels summery. understated accessories are ideal since these rompers have such a busy pattern. chloe’s metallic braided sandals ($419) and a no fuss small saddle bag by michael kors ($178) fit the bill. top off your outfit with architectural kyla bangles by dannijo ($345) and spicy red graziella sunglasses by oliver peoples ($280). 

CONTRAST….opposing colors make for a striking and easy to execute pattern. i love emma watson x people tree lucy wrap dress ($77). it has a care free and easy to wear feel to it.  it can easily be dressed up or worn casually. i went for a dressier look with sparkly black studs ($12), a buffalo horn bangle by monique pean ($1055) and a proenza schouler ps1 clutch ($895). i added a touch of color with these forest green pumps by evergreen ($35) to liven things up. 

RAINBOWS…i’m so excited about the coach classics collection being reissued that i’ve styles a whole outfit based on it. it sounds a bit crazy to style a whole outfit based on an accessory, but honestly, i do this all the time. 

coach’s shoulder bag ($300) is small in size but its vibrant red color makes it so eye catching. a colorful print would only bring out the bag’s liveliness so top shop’s rainbow striped romper ($55) seemed perfect. it’s playful & relaxed but still allows you to look like you put some effort into your outfit. in keeping with a comfortable look, lacoste marthe espa 2 flats ($84) are super comfy and neutral enough that it doesn’t fight the romper or the bag. a great way to add some color would be through accessories. superfuture’s dark purple sunglasses ($116) and yellow teardrop earrings by elva fields ($30) inject some bright color and keep this look fun. i’m loving sony’s nex 3 camera ($499). it’s lightweight, takes great pics and small enough to hold or throw in your bag.  

SNAKE IN THE GRASS…as a kid i loved jean shorts. it was the easiest and quickest way to turn old jeans into something useful again.  now that i’m a bit older, i can’t remember the last time i wore a pair. wearing them now could easily make me look like i’m 15 again - which may not be a bad thing but probably not the most appropriate. so here’s my grown-up-go-to-comfortable-summer outfit. top shop’s floral top ($70) compliments the fun spirit of j brand’s jean shorts ($155). madden girl’s morghan brown leather flat sandals ($30) are understated and simple but a bright green logan tote by want les essentiels de la vie ($450) brings out all the colors of the top. and just for fun rachel roy’s golden snake cuff ($42) finishes the outfit. 

SLICES…orange has to be one of the most perfect colors for the summer. it has vibrancy and feels refreshingly clean. so when i came across orla kiely’s orange silk crepe dress ($545), it immediately caught my attention. it has a 50’s feminine sexiness  but with modern and flirty touches. louboutin’s muted grey peep toe pumps ($745) continue a sexy 50’s aesthetic while purple simulated alexandrite studs ($50) and rebecca minkoff’s turquoise boy toy lady-like satchel ($525) injects pops of color that compliment rather distract from this look. a gold pave bracelet ($398) by saskia diez finishes the outfit to add a little glimmer. 

ORANGE LIME…color blocking is all the rage this Spring. And why not? The bright colors compliment the renewed and happy feelings associated with Spring. Here’s an outfit perfect for the sunny days ahead. Theory’s bright orange sleeveless top ($358) and Alice + Olivia’s Cady satin green shorts ($155) pack a powerful punch. To make this look more wearable, pair with accessories that are more subtle in color but provide texture and depth. YSL’s Gisele 80 Pumps ($675) are in a muted color but the sheen adds interest while Phillips Frankel Diamond Studs ($1155) offer some sparkle. Louis Vuitton’s L Handbag ($3550)  and Reed Krakoff’s Stacked Wooden Bracelet ($295) provide texture.   

MCQUEEN…an easy go-to outfit that has classic appeal. pairing mcqueen’s ankle zip skinny jeans ($358) with his skull print beige t-shirt ($350) sets the foundation for a casual outfit. but add a pair of mcqueen’s sexy beige leather heels ($733) and his fitted prince of wales checked jacket ($1866) and you’ve got a dose of sophisticated sexy. top it all of with bold accessories: mcqueen’s swarovski crystal iris and skull ring ($350), skull and koi fish necklace ($480), and his iconic de-mana clutch ($1230). in an effort to break up all the earth tone colors in this outfit, essie’s pale blue nail polish ($6) is the perfect touch.

GOLDEN OWL… a casual everyday look that gets a much needed lift with subtle touches of gold and turns it into a memorable yet very wearable outfit. Emma Cook’s Owl Silk Top ($460) is bold with an oversized owl and intense eyes. Paired with slim fitting black Levi’s Made & Crafted ($185), it may seem natural to throw on a pair of black heels to keep with the outfit’s color palette, however, adding a pair of muted gold heels like Elie Tahari’s Tonie Lace Bootie ($498) draws out the colors found in Cook’s Owl Top and allows the wearer to easily incorporate other colors, rather than sticking with black. Shaesby’s Geometric Gold Earrings ($265) are simple yet inject interest while Lanvin’s Happy Shoulder Bag ($2110) nicely completes the look.
